James A Riffel, of Visalia CA, went home to be with the Lord on December 17, 2016. Jim was born on May 5, 1941 in Sanger CA to Al and Noni Riffel.

In 1959 he graduated from Sanger High School where he excelled in track and held the record for the 5 lap mile for decades. Jim attended college at Fresno City and Fresno State where he studied Agriculture. Jim loved the outdoors and always chose careers that reflected this. He loved farming and was respected for always having good ideas to help other growers. Jim was also a member of the National Guard in his younger years and loved his country.

Jim loved the Lord with all his heart and his life reflected this with his ministry to all ages from teaching Sunday School Classes to both young and old, leading music in church and showing Christ’s love to all he came in contact with.

Jim is survived by his loving wife Barbara Riffel of Visalia; Son Brent Riffel, his wife Lorinda and their children Kaitlin, Mikayla and Braelyn of Madera; Son Vance Riffel and his son Micah of Kingsburg; Daughter April Roque and her children Megan Martzen , husband Scott and their son Maverick, Amanda Teso and Garrett Alvis of Reedley; Daughter Shelene Gonzalez and husband Fidencio and their children Kasi and Jake of Visalia; Jim’s brother Rod Riffel of Parlier and Sisters Jan DeFrancesco of Portland, Oregon; Barbara Heinrichs of Roy, Washington and Pam Penner of Shafter.

Viewing will take place on Monday, December 26, 2016 from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at Salser & Dillard Funeral Chapel.

The Graveside Service will take place at Smith Mountain Cemetery in Dinuba on Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at 10:00 a.m.

The Celebration of Life Service will be held at Faith Baptist Church located at 3833 W. Walnut Ave., Visalia CA. Light luncheon to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Faith Baptist Church in Jim’s name.
