Dr. Betty Ruth Heard was born July 2, 1935 in Marshall, Texas. She born to William Allen and Ida Mae Pou Heard. A professional educator, she taught speech and debate at Texas State University, The University of Hawaii, and Marshall High School. She was a member of the Huguenot Society and the Central Baptist Church in Carthage. Betty loved her tree farm and her pet dachshund “Harry”. She is preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Ranse Heard.
