Born September 17, 1928, in Lawrence County, he was the son of Elza George and Oleta “Fern” (Hudson) Henderson. He married Thelma Davis on January 6, 1945, and she preceded him in death on April 16, 1995. He worked in Heavy Equipment Construction and retired from the Lawrence County Highway Department. Gordon was a member of Dive Christian Church where he served as an Elder, and was a charter member of the Dive Cemetery.
Survivors include his children: Jim Henderson and wife Nickii of Bedford, Mary Miller and husband Mike of Bedford, Doris Todd and husband Monty of Heltonville; Thom Henderson and wife Betty of Orleans; son-in-law: Steve Boshear; twelve grandchildren: Joe Boshears, Troy Boshears, Ryan Boshears, Charity Parker, Craig Henderson, Scott Miller, Rusty Miller, Michelle Miller, Shannon Purdy, Aaron Todd, Ben Henderson and Patrick Henderson; two step-grandchildren: Cyndi Sparrow, and Mike Sparrow; 27 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a daughter, Jane Boshears; a grandson, Cory Henderson; two sisters, Grace Bugh and Gladys Goldsby; two brothers, Glenn Henderson and Elza G. Henderson, Jr., in infancy.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, December 28,
in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary in Bedford. Burial will follow in the Dive Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, December 27, at the Day & Carter Mortuary. Family and friends may express condolences at www.daycarter.com
