Mrs. Hutchins was a daughter of the late Murrel J. and Edna Mae (Cain) Tinney. She was a 1941 graduate of Waynesville High School. During World War II, she was employed at The Shoe Factory in Kings Mills, and she was also employed by NCR in Cambridge and Delco in Dayton. She was a homemaker, and she was a member of the Caldwell Church of the Nazarene, member and past president of the Caldwell VFW Auxiliary Post #4721, and a member of the Belle Valley American Legion Auxiliary Post #641. Leona enjoyed quilting, sewing, working word puzzles, and playing cards. She loved her family.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, John G. Hutchins, who died in October, 1990; one granddaughter, Teresa Lynn Border; one sister, Mary Ann Conley; and two brothers, Robert M. Tinney and Willard D. Tinney.
