Born circa 1635 at Maerseveen, in the province of Utrecht, the Netherlands, being at the time twenty-two years of age. In a deposition dated Aug. 20, 1667, Dirck Jansen [Hoogland] of Midwout [Flatbush], L. I. [Long Island], declares that he is about 32 years of age.

By the census taken Sept. 30, 1687, he is recorded as being about 30 years in the country.

On 9 August 1701 he sold to Jacobus Van Cortlandt, then Alderman and later Mayor of New York, certain land in Flatbush, which he had bought of Belthazar De Hart, "bounded on the east and west by Cornelis de Seeuw."

On 18 April 1706 Dirck Hoogland petitioned for payment for two horses, lost in Colonel Dongan's expedition to Albany in 1688, "in which expedition his cousin, Johannes Hoogland, of New York, served as a trooper."

Dirck Jansen Hoogland came to America 1657 (from Maersseveen, in the province of Utrecht) according to 1687 census where he said he had been in the Colonies 30 years. He owned land in Midwout [Flatbush] and was a co-founder of Bedford.

Four persons of the name of Hoochlandt/Hooglandt/Hoaglandt emigrated to this country during the Dutch rule were:

1) Cornelis Dircksen Hoochlandt, found here as early as 1638;

2) Christoffel Hoaglandt, from Haarlem, in 1655;

3) DIRCK JANSZOON/JANSZE HOOGLANDT, from Maerseveen, in 1657;

4) Cornelis Andriezen Hoaglandt, from the Hague, in 1658.

There is no direct evidence of blood relationship between any of these persons.
