CAREY TEMPLIN DIES THURSDAY AT HOME HERE
Rites Saturday For Local Man; Wife Critically Ill
Carey Templin, 78, well known local citizen, died Thursday morning at 12:20 at his home on Water street. Death was caused by arterio-sclerosis and complications, according to the attending physician. He had been ailing for several years and was practically helpless the last several months. He fell several times last week, probably aggravating his condition. Mr. Templin had been a resident of Berne for the last 20 years.
WIFE CRITICALLY ILL
Mrs. Templin is also critically ill at the home and little hope is held for her recovery. She has also been in failing health for some time. Mr. and Mrs. Templin have been cared for by their daughter, Mrs. Homer Inniger, who with their small son, live in the home. Mr. Inniger recently returned from the service and has now been assisting in the care of Mr. and Mrs. Templin.
The Templins operated a home bake shop for many years and Mr. Templin was a familiar figure on the streets, carrying fresh pastries in a basket, making deliveries. They were forced to discontinue this business some time ago because of ill health.
The deceased was born in Randolph county, Indiana, November 20, 1867, a son of Sanford and Judith M. Faulkin Templin. He was married to Rosina Amstutz west of Berne on November 20, 1909. She survives and is 74 years of age.
Surviving besides the widow are two sons and two daughters, Roswell M. Templin, Portland; Rev. Clinton H. Templin, Ashley, Indiana; Mrs. Opal Amstutz and Mrs. Lillie Inniger, both of Berne. Nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild survive. There are no surviving brothers or sisters. His first wife, one brother and one sister preceded.
The body was removed this afternoon from the Yager mortuary to the west entrance room of the First Missionary church where it may be viewed. The body was not taken home because of the condition of Mrs. Templin. The funeral will be held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at the First Missionary church of which he was a member, the Rev. C. H. Wiederkehr officiating. Burial will be in the IOOF Cemetery in Pennville.
