Edward Harris, 78, of Rankin/Gardendale, passed away Friday, January 12, 2007.
Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, January 16 at First Baptist Church in Rankin, Texas with Rev. Randy Bush officiating. Burial will follow in Rankin Cemetery.
Ed was born on March 23, 1928 in Lamesa, Texas to Oscar William Paul Harris and Martha Pearl Rasco. He married the love of his life, Grace Mildred Caudle, on May 6, 1945.
He was preceded in death by Grace, his parents, 6 brothers and sisters; Martha Ann Harris, John Leldon Harris, Ova Lanell Schwartz, Lillie Florence Beatty, Jody Harris and W. Lee Harris, 2 grandchildren; Jody Harris and James Lee Harris; 2 great-grandchildren, Heather Harris and James Austin Harris.
He is survived by 2 sisters; Helen Hobson, of Lamesa and LaGrace Wilkerson, of Odessa; 1 brother, Jimmy Paul Harris, of San Antonio; 4 children, James and Lee Harris, of Harker Heights, Jerry and Glenda Harris, of Odessa, Bill and Lori Harris, of Odessa, and Gena and Charles Taylor, of Plano; 17 grandchildren and 18 great-great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Bryan Harris, Chris Harris, O.W. Harris, Jr., Tony Harris, Paul Bethune, Robert Headrick, Tracy Clanton, Kenneth Carrell and James Chastain. Honorary pallbearers are Bradley Clanton, Blake Harris, Bryan Harris, Jr., Brandon Harris, Joseph Harris, Julian Rodriguez, Cameron Harris and Will Harris.
The family requests that memorials be made to the American Heart Association or the Rankin Cemetery Association.
Ed was a hard-working man who was dedicated to his family. He lived each day to the fullest and will be greatly missed by many.
Arrangements are under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home.
