Wife, Mom, and Child of God; Kindergarten teacher to half the kids/adults in Syracuse; Literacy Coach for Syracuse Elementary, North Webster Elementary, Milford School, and Wawasee Middle; Cheerleading and Gymnastics coach at Wawasee High School; Tutor; Realtor; Sunday School teacher. How do you sum up the life of someone like Kim? It cannot be done, so I will just leave these comments from stunned former students, friends, etc.

She was beautiful, both inside and out!! Her smile was infectious and her heart was warm and gracious enough to embrace our whole town & so many individuals! I can't think of another individual who has impacted our small town in such a positive, loving way. She touched the lives of so many family generations! May she & her son be walking the streets of gold as her crown shines so ever bright! You will continue to be loved & missed but never forgotten. ❤ Prayers to her family & friends.
--Jill

A beautiful sky this afternoon after our town lost an amazing woman last night. She's touched the lives of so many people from kindergarten to buying their homes. She was there for so many families and now we will all be there for her family as they go thru this difficult time. RIP Kim Conrad and your son who was with you last night. Prayers for a speedy recovery for her husband who is in Ft. Wayne hospital. I couldn't imagine what their other son is going thru as he has lost his mom and brother last night and his dad is in the hospital. Lord have mercy. ❤💙💜💚
--Ashley

Kim was one of a kind! She was my cheerleader coach for 2 years and then around 3 years ago she really came into our lives because of my rental house which I eventually sold thru her. I would get so mad sometimes and she would always say "Nicole we have big hearts, you know what the right thing to do is!" She talked me down everytime. I just talked with her last Tuesday when she came over and gave me a hug and told me to have a great time on our vacation. She was such a kind caring person who have impacted so many people for the better. Memory Eternal!
--Nicole

Most of Syracuse is feeling a sense of loss after hearing the news about a truly amazing woman, Mrs. Kim Conrad. Kim was such a beautiful person. Her work in the community was endless. She has touched so many people's hearts in so many different ways and levels. Me and Joe were supposed to go look at 2 houses today with her and now she's gone and we still can't believe it. Memory eternal, Mrs. Conrad, my favorite Kindergarten teacher.
--Sandy

I pray that you may rest in peace Stephen and Kim You will both forever be missed. Two phenomenal human beings that positively affected more lives than one could count. I'm not even sure what to say. What I do know is that many, many, many hearts are broken right now.
--Andrew

Yesterday, celebrating Jesus' Birthday with my family couldn't have been any better. It was truly a wonderful Christmas for which I am so very thankful for God's richest blessings. Last night, hearing that Heaven gained two angels, broke my heart. I had the pleasure of doing my Student Teaching under the direction of Kim. She was an amazing lady who showed love to everyone. Her classroom was filled with students prior to the day starting who would come in for a hug, a smile, & a great dose of her warm encouragement before they started their day. She took time with everyone, no matter how busy the day was ahead. I loved watching how their mood changed by just being around her. She poured so much into me and I use so many strategies I learned from her and materials she lovingly gave me every day in my classroom with my kiddos. She was so supportive of our preschool, tutoring programs, & newly formed Christian Academy. She had planned to come visit us at our school & was so proud of all we were doing. I had recently seen her & had planned over break to call and catch-up. Every time we do our Z-Y-X song, I'll think of you. ❤️ My deepest condolences to the family. Prayers to all the families involved in this tragedy.
It's such a horrible tragedy. She was such a wonderful, amazing, selfless woman who loved the Lord. Just heart breaking. Prayers for all involved.
--Wende

I just read this on the news...So very tragic, so very sad and on Christmas Day. Prayers especially for her husband who has lost the two most important people in his life. Can't imagine ... So senseless. It is difficult to pray for the driver in this case who senselessly caused this accident, but I do pray that thru this he will, if he doesn't already, know the true Gift of Christmas and His grace, mercy, truth and forgiveness.
--Tami

So terribly sad! Rest in peace! So glad to have given her a hug last Monday. Praying for all!
--Gina

Loved both Kim & Stephen both amazing!!!
Truly will miss them!
Praying for Steve and the rest of the family during this loss
--Cindy

I am going to miss you both so much.. You guys were a mother and a brother to me.. I use to hang out with Steve all the time when he was home, and Kim would have done anything for anybody.. I love you guys and I will see you again one day
--Trevor

My heart is broken for their family sending my heart and prayers
--Trysta

We bought our first house on friday. We were going to post about it today, thanking Kim for her kindness and patience with us. We were awoke by news of her passing. In shock and so saddened. She was an amazing woman. Praying so much today for her family.
--Anna

It's so incredibly heart breaking.
--Shannon

She worked with Eric for years and helped us buy our house too. She was an amazing lady! She will be missed!
--Jessica

After hearing the news of the passing of a great woman, Kim, I found this old news article from 8th grade cheerleading. You were so fun, caring, and the nicest person. I remember you through the years and when you were my daughter Ariel's teacher. You will be missed.
--Lisa

She will be greatly missed, there isn't a more caring and kind individual!
--Nicole

I've known Kim for over 30 years. She was my teacher in elementary school, and then was my 3 youngest childrens teacher. I'm utterly heartbroken over this news. No one can replace her in this world.
--Jo

I'm still in total shock. Rest easy Kim and Stephen. You had such a huge impact on the community...She has such a huge impact on me. She was my teacher and made out to be such a great cheerleader... she never let me give up no matter how hard it was. She has a wonderful personality and always could put a smile on my face. Her face a few weeks ago from seeing me all grown up was priceless. I got the biggest hug... and savanah got to meet this great wonderful lady... I'll never forget you
--Danielle

No doubt they are at peace, they were while they were here. Those left grieving, prayers and love. Kim and Stephen radiated love, living life to the fullest, and loving life ... We can honor their memories lifting up that family and community now, then cherish the memories and love life to the fullest. God Bless the thousands grieving this tragedy
--Drew

It is with a heavy heart that I write this. Words, words...there are not enough words to describe how loved the Conrad family is in our community.
I met Kim when we first moved to Syracuse back in the late 70's. She was our son Donnie's first teacher here. She loved him and us. We had an instant connection. When he got older and had issues, I would see her, she would cry with me.
She went on to teach many of my grandkids. Most recently she was showing a place next door to us and she popped in my house to say hi. She encouraged Doniven and in discovering he was struggling with a class at school she offered to help tutor him so he could pass the class.
That's the kind of person she was, every day. She was that way in her real estate. Some took advantage of her good nature, but most others really loved and appreciated her dedication. She really, really loved others.
With a passion like I have never seen in anyone else.
She was only a few months younger than I but she ran circles around me and most others.
But it didn't end there. She loved and lived. I don't think there was a single person that ever felt a slighted by her, because she loved everyone intensely. Her light shone to us all and her memory will live in all of us forever. Till I see you again...my dear friend Kim
--Christine

34 years ago after suffering my second miscarriage I ran into Kim Conrad. She told me about a specialist in Elkhart named Dr. Heiser. She said she had went through the same thing and Dr. Heiser was great.
When I found out I was pregnant (1985) again I made an appointment with him. Fortunately I was able to carry him full term.
April 24,1987 I went into labor with my second son. The nurses at EGH Said they were going to put me in a room with another lady from Syracuse. When I was wheeled into the room it was Kim. She had given birth that morning too.
We laughed because neither of us knew the other was pregnant.
I will never forget she forgot to bring shampoo and I forgot slippers.
So she used my shampoo and I used her slippers. Her feet were so much smaller than mine. Lol
I will always have this memory of her.
May you Rest In Peace.
--Lisa

Kim was my 2nd Grade teacher in 1978 at Millersburg Elementary, she loved teaching & always made me feel like family. I'm just devastated feel like I wanna cry this just seems surreal to have happened to such a Wonderful lady, just crushed right now. Hadn't seen or talked to her lately but the reality that I never will again is heartbreaking...... RIP Mrs. Conrad you will never be forgotten & always in my heart....
--Ron

Kim was the absolute best! She would do anything for anybody! Her devotion to her boys was unparalleled! All of us are completely heartbroken over this tragedy. Our hearts go out to Michael, Katie, Jeffrey and Steve who is still in critical condition. I am heartbroken that they will miss their little Kendall Christine.
--Toni

--Karolyn

Dear Coach we are all saddened by your loss you were an amazing person, so giving, caring and always with that incredible smile on your face. I pray for your family and friends at this time that God will be with them and help them through this time of grief.

--Amy

I'm in shock and disbelief over the untimely loss of Kim. My heart goes out to the family. Kim always showed me kindness and caring. RIP Kim and Stephen.
