Civic leader Lynne Weaver was killed, along with at least nine others, by an automobile that plowed through a temporary "farmers' market" in a Santa Monica street on Wednesday the 16th of July 2003.

Mrs. Weaver was Chief Operating Officer of After-School All-Stars, the Arnold Schwarzenegger children's support group formerly known as Inner-City Games. In memory of Mrs. Weaver, Schwarzenegger has made the establishing donation to The Jennifer Weaver College Scholarship Fund.

Actor Dennis Weaver and his wife Gerry Weaver are the parents of director Rob Weaver, Lynne's husband. Dennis said, "Our family's loss is the world's loss. Lynne is a universal spirit."

Mrs. Weaver spent her early childhood in Orange, California, and later moved to the San Fernando Valley, where she graduated from Chatsworth High School. She and Rob are the parents of Jennifer, who graduated from Malibu High in June 2003. Mrs. Weaver was a professional ice skater before her public service career.

As a civic leader, the charities Lynne Weaver helped grow are too numerous to list, but they include one that supplies shoes for Native American children on the Lakota SiouxPineridge Reservation; L.I.F.E. (Love is feeding everyone, which provided thousands of free meals daily in Southern California for 15 years); the Planetary Coral Reef Foundation; Women of Los Angeles and Women of Pasadena, civic supporters; and various ethnic community events.

She was also active in Women in Film and with members of the Entertainment Publicists Professional Society. Her kindness to individuals are said to have equaled her compassion for groups. Mrs. Weaver has been an instructor for several years in courses in public relations at UCLA Extension and Loyola Marymount University.

She was also a producer at InterWeave Entertainment of live events and live action video games, often working with her husband, Rob. Rob Weaver recently co-produced the documentary coverage of Dennis Weaver's Drive to Survive, an auto caravan led by Dennis and his wife Gerry, from Santa Monica to Washington, D.C., to publicize the anti-pollutant pluses of non-petroleum fuels. The Drive to Survive was engendered by the non-profit Institute of Ecolonomics, which Dennis and Gerry founded ten years ago to help save the planet from pollution. Lynne was active in the program, and in support of the drive.

When in Washington, Lynne Weaver escorted Schwarzenegger to Congressional hearings, and she accompanied Dennis when he conferred with the US Secetary of Energy, Spencer Abraham.

Mrs. Weaver is survived by her huband, Robert M Weaver and their daughter, Jennifer Weaver; her mother, Mrs. June DeMaria, sisters, Margaret Radin, Melinda Kopstein, Erin Villalobos, Heidi Bracamontes and Gretchen Haug; and brothers, Dino DeMaria, John Haug and Gary Braden.

She would have been 48 on the 24th of September.

The Jennifer Weaver Scholarship Fund is being administered at After-School All Stars offices, Suite 300, 1460 4Th Street, Santa Monica, California, 90401 (310-458-4411), about one block from where Mrs. Weaver was struck.

Mrs. Weaver's life was celebrated with friends and family.
