Stanley Alan Stewart, beloved father, grandfather and friend; born Wednesday, March 26, 1947 in Shawnee, Oklahoma to his loving parents, Robert & Juanita (Stapp) Stewart; went to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 24, 2016 in Auckland, New Zealand. Originally from Tecumseh, Stanley, or better known by his family as “Papaw,” has been a long time resident of the Catoosa area. Stanley received a bachelor’s degree in physics from the University of Oklahoma before serving his country honorably and proudly in the United States Army during the Vietnam conflict. After his service to his country, he returned to school and received his master’s degree in computer science. In April of 1980, he married the love of his life, Lorene, at Timber Ridge Church, thereafter, settling down in Catoosa and starting their family. During this time, Stanley worked for St. John’s Hospital as a computer programmer until his retirement in 2013. In his free time, Stanley enjoyed many things such as reading and wood working; what Stanley was truly passionate about was his family that he loved so dearly. Fond memories will always be cherished of Stanley, especially his hand made clocks, bowls, and pens. He will be deeply missed by all those who had their lives touched by him. Stanley is preceded in death by his beloved wife of thirty-three years, Nita Lorene Stewart; his loving parents, Robert & Juanita (Stapp) Stewart; his dear brothers, Richard Stewart and Robert Stewart. Stanley is survived by his loving children, Stephanie Southern & husband Jonathan and Jeffrey Stewart & wife Tiffany; his three precious grandchildren, Kylan Southern, Nathan Southern, and Kathryne Stewart; and numerous other loving family members and friends. A visitation will be held Wednesday, January 4, 2017 from 5:00PM to 8:00PM at Floral Haven Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held Thursday, January 5, 2017 at 12:30PM at Floral Haven Funeral Home in the Chapel. A graveside service will follow at Timber Ridge Cemetery in Catoosa, Oklahoma at 2:00PM. Services have been entrusted to Floral Haven Funeral Home, Floral Shop, Crematory and Memorial Gardens; 6500 S. 129th E Ave; Broken Arrow, Oklahoma 74012.
