Daughter of Dr. David Fletcher Draper and his first wife Susannah Russel. Sarah's mother died when she was just four years old. She was raised by her stepmother, Sarah Ann "Sally" Baker.

She married William Francis Marion Jennings, on April 16, 1871. They had at least eight children:

Joshua B. (born 1874)
George C. (born September 13, 1875)
Stella J. (born 1878)
Edith May (born February 22, 1881)
William Roscoe (born February 6, 1882)
Effa Ethelyn, known as "Effie" (born December 19, 1884)

Sarah died in 1888, and her husband got remarried the following year, to Mary Elizabeth Rupard, who raised the younger children.

It is believed that Sarah is buried here in Big Hill, but it has not yet been confirmed.
