It is with great sadness that the family of Frederick James Fields announces his passing on Dec. 20, 2016, at the age of 89.

Fred was born Feb 20, 1927, at Fort Mills on Corregidor Island in the Philippines. His family relocated to and settled in Pt. Townsend, Wash., when he was 9 years old.

Fred was a lifelong civil service employee, working for the U.S. Army from 1943 to retirement in 1981. In the course of his career Fred and his family lived in many different countries and places, finally retiring and settling in Sierra Vista, Az., for the last 44 years.

Fred had many friends and colleagues in the area whom he truly loved and enjoyed. Fred was active in little league coaching and a lifetime member of The Elks Club.

Fred is survived by the love of his life and wife of 69 years, Cecilia; children, Fredrick, Joan Wright, and Robert; 6 grandchildren, Deni, Jason, Jody, Nick, Robby, and Emily; 5 great-grandchildren, Gabriel, Landon, Mya, Lauren, and Sophia; brother, Clarence; and sister, Betty Grewel.

Fred will be truly missed as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend to all who knew him.
