Darrell Efton Hudson (Hartville)
July 26, 1935 - December 23, 2016

Darrell Efton Hudson, son of Lloyd and Ilah Shaddy Hudson, was born July 26, 1935 at Hartville, Missouri. He was called home Friday, December 23, 2016, at his home in Grovespring, at the age of eighty-one years, four months, and twenty-seven days.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his loving wife, Janette.

Darrell is survived by his three sons, Ronnie Hudson and his wife Brenda, Randy and his wife Sharon, and Dennis Hudson and his wife Candy, all of Hartville, Missouri; three sisters, Ilene Shaver of Grovespring, Missouri, Carlene Branstetter of Marshfield, Missouri, and Irene Wilson of Cowgill, Missouri; eight grandchildren, Misty Gray and her husband Chris, Nathan Hudson, Preston Hudson and his wife Shawna, Shawnette Jones and her husband Charley, Dana Pedersen and her husband Jared, Shannon Hudson, Jamie Hudson, and Carl Hudson and his wife Jamie; three step-grandchildren, Jamison Conner, Keesha Strong, and Sabrina Aldridge and her husband Bud; 12 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Darrell was born and raised in Hartville and attended school at the Luallin School House. After he finished school he immediately started working on the farm and later met and fell in love with Janette Kelsay. The two married on November 26, 1955 and spent the next 60 years together before Janette passed. They both attended Elk Creek Church.

Work was Darrell’s life. He milked cows on the farm for over fifty-five years and also took care of Shaddy cemetery for over twenty years, but he also enjoyed a little entertainment in between working and sleeping. Darrell loved to bird hunt and in the fall you could often catch him out walking the fields looking for quail. Just about every morning, Darrell went to the restaurant in Grovespring to visit with his friends, have coffee, and catch up before returning to the field to begin the day’s work.

Darrell was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend. We celebrate his life and many accomplishments and will always cherish the many wonderful memories he created.
