John H. Chandler is a son of Rudolphus Chandler and Lydia Hutchins. John was a teamster who hauled cargo before and during the Civil War. After the Civil War, John traveled to Yazoo County, Mississippi and married his first wife Catharine A. Hughes on Sept 21 1865 at Fletcher's Chapel United Methodist Church in Yazoo City, Yazoo County, Mississippi. They had 2 children together, both born in Yazoo County Mississippi: Milton Ross Chandler (1867-1896) and Lydia Chandler (1869). After Catherine's death in 1870, John Chandler married a second wife in 1871 in Yazoo County, Mississippi, her name was Union "Eunice" Edmondson and they had 5 children together: Mary (1872), John (1875),William Willis (1876-1947), Ambres (1879), and Emma (1886). John and Eunice moved with all 7 children to Bexar county, Texas in 1875, where they resided a few years before moving to the Chickasaw Nation, Indian Territory, Oklahoma in 1882. In 1891 the family moved to Pottawatomie County, Oklahoma, where they homesteaded May 31, 1900. John H Chandler died in 1900. John H. Chandler is a proven descendant of Edmund Chandler who immigrated from Holland to Plymouth Colony, Massachusetts in 1632. John is also a proven descendant of Myles Standish and John Alden of the 1620 Mayflower Pilgrims.
