William H. "Bill" Harlan

William H. Harlan, 75, passed away December 7, 2016, after a lengthy illness.

He was born July 10, 1941 to the late Robert and Mary Elizabeth Harlan.

On April 30, 1966, Bill married the love of his life, Patricia Anne Guckeyson. She survives. Also left to cherish his memory are two sons, Brian Harlan of Canton, OH and Nathan (Katie) Harlan of Granger, IN; seven grandchildren, Erin, Conner, Gabriel, Isabel, Gavriel, Abigail and William Harlan; and brother-in-law, Donald Olhausen of Cuyahoga Falls, OH.

Bill was eager to serve our country, and in 1955 he secretly enlisted in the National Guard at the age of 14 years old without the permission of his mother Mary. He stayed in for nine years and left as a Sergeant in the Infantry. He was a hard worker who always found a way to provide for his family no matter what. He was a foreman and plant manager for BF Goodrich for 20 years, and later worked at Wayside Furniture in Akron Ohio for several years. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather, and will be dearly missed.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday December 17th, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, South Main Street, Akron, OH.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children Hospital.
