Marcus Alexander Hall, engineer, inventor, sailor, and gentleman passed away on April 5 at Yale New Haven Hospital after a brief illness.

He had recently celebrated his 95th birthday. He leaves his children, Douglas, Judith, Jean and Peter, their spouses, Carolyn, Greg, Harry and Patricia, his grandchildren Gregory, Kristin, and Stephen, and his wife Maryanne Lincoln Hall.

He was predeceased by his first wife Marjorie Wight Hall. Mark grew up in West Haven, but spent most of his summers at Sunset Beach in Branford. He built his first boat in the basement of the West Haven house. He designed not only the boats, but the machinery that made them. He later worked at Flexible Tubing in Guilford manufacturing hose material. In 1975 he started his own business with his wife and family in Branford, inventing and producing machines for the wire industry.

Sailing was a favorite pastime, beginning with friends at Rockland Park, and joining the Pine Orchard races in his "Zip", and leading to worldwide sailing adventures, but Summer Island was always his favorite to be. Mark always enjoyed fishing, especially catching redfish during the winter months in Goodland , Florida. In recently weeks he enjoyed compiling a book of photographs and memories of all the boats he had ever built or chartered.
