In the Name of God, Amen. I Daniel Scofield of Stamford in Fairfield County & Connecticut Colony in New England in America … of the fraility of Life, but of sound mind and memory for which Almighty God be thanked. Whom Ever it shall profess God to call our house. Do Now Declare my mind in this my Last Will & Testament as follows Viz I give my Soul into the Hands of God, my creator, and the Lord Jesus Christ my all … Redeemer and my Body to the Earth decently to be interred according to the Discretion of my Executor whose afornamed having hope in the Resurrection of the …and as touching then Worldly Estate which the Divine Bounty hath pledged to … my last will & moaning in that all my debts & funeral expenses be paid and… provisions of meat & drink be prepared out of my Estate so much as be of six months from and after my demise & those that the Remained on be disposed of in the following manner Viz
Imprissis I give & bequeath to my Dear & loving wife Hannah one third part of my moveable Estate to be her own absolutely and forever & also the use of one third part of my mansion House & Barn & one third part of my land during her natural life.
I give & bequeath to my loving Son, Nathan in addition to what I have already given him by Deed of Gift Ten Shillings in Money & also one quarter part of my tithes to or interest in any lands above the eight mile line so called in said Stamford to be with him my said son Nathan to his Heirs and assigns forever—
I give & bequeath unto my three loving sons to said Josiah, Miles & Reuben. The Remaining in three quarter parts of my Tithe or interest in any lands above the Eight mile line to be unto them, my said sons in an Equal proportion & their heirs & assigns forever.
I give & bequeath unto my Loving & Daughter, Hannah of my Estate to the value of Thirty Three pounds Lawful money of the said Colony of Connecticut to be her own absolutely and forever and the improvement of one quarter part of my house and Homelot so long as she shall remain unmarried.
I give and bequeath to my loving Daughter Sarah the wife of John Lockwood of my estate to the value of Eight pounds lawfull money of the said Colony of Connecticut to be her own absolutely & forever. In addition to one hundred & two pounds of the old currancy in said Colony which I have already given unto her my said Daughter Sarah in Household goods.
Item The Remainder of my estate whether moveable or lands divided or undivided I give & bequeath unto my four loving sons to Said Josiah, Miles, Charles & Reuben to be Equally divided among them & to be unto them my said four sons and to their Heirs to assigns forever.
Finally I Nominate, Considerate and Appoint my two loving sons, Josiah & Miles Scofield Executors of this my last Will & Testament and confirm this & no other to be my last will and Testament. I witness where of I have here unto set my hand and seal this 19th day of February 1742/3
