Funeral services for Gussie Geneva Roberts, 94, were held Oct. 16, 2012 at Wadley’s Funeral Chapel in Purcell with Brother Mike Roberts, Pastor, officiating. Interment was at Fairview/Maguire Cemetery in Noble under the direction of Wadley’s Funeral Service.
Mrs. Roberts was born near Wayne, Oklahoma, April 27, 1918 to George and Sarah (Mozley) Richardson. She attended Hughes and Maysville Schools, graduating from Classen High School. She attended Draughn Business College in Oklahoma City.
She was a homemaker and worked on the farm where they raised their children. She worked in a grocery store, locker plant and ran the telephone switchboard in Maysville, Central State Hospital and Little River State Park in Norman. She was active in the Purcell Senior Citizen Center and a longtime member of the Maguire Baptist Church.
Geneva was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Burl Roberts; son, Kenneth Roberts and an infant son; grandson, Gary Roberts; great-granddaughter, Brooklynn Bacon; siblings, Oscar, Perry and Kenneth Richardson, Hattie Pulley and Minnie Nolatubbe.
She is survived by the following children, Billy and Pat Roberts of Noble, George and Jackie Roberts of Wayne, Mike and Sandra Roberts of Wanette, Jon and Donna Roberts of Norman, Geneva and L.D. Bacon, Sr. of Purcell and Paula and Fred Amrein of Noble; daughter-in-law, Barbara Roberts of Weatherford, Texas; sister, Edna Faye Lister of Mineral Wells, Texas; sister-in-law, Bernice Richardson of Mineral Wells, Texas; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
