Charles Edward "Fuzzy" Keesee, age 88, passed from this life at Pikeville Medical Center, Friday, December 23, 2016. Fuzzy was born to the late Moss and Della Mae (Myers) Keesee in Belfry, KY.

Besides both of his parents, Fuzzy is preceded in death by siblings, Clyde Keesee, Frank D. Keesee, Albert Chandler Keesee, Helen Keesee Farmer, Lorene Keesee Hensley and Mary Jane Keesee Miller.

Fuzzy is survived by his loving wife, his miracle, Easter Keesee of Pikeville, KY; one brother, Alben Keesee of Turkey Creek, KY; one sister, Nancy Jo Keesee Worley of Pinsonfork KY; and an adoring host of nieces and nephews.

Fuzzy grew up as an avid football and basketball player for Belfry High School. Fuzzy absolutely adored his Belfry Pirates. Fuzzy was drafted in to the U.S. Army in 1952, where he served as a surgical medic in El Paso, Texas, organizing surgical instruments for a team of doctors. Deployed to France with an infantry unit, he worked in a small dispensary, then an elementary school for military families & children.
When his time was up, he returned to Kentucky with an honorable discharge and found work in a chemical factory in Louisville, KY. Fuzzy, "Our Sheriff", is the longest-serving sheriff in Kentucky with more than 40 years in office. He first took office Jan. 1, 1962.

Fuzzy stated that, "I like to be able to help people when they come in. I enjoy that. I enjoy meeting people. When I can help people, that's a great accomplishment for me. When I can't help a person, I feel bad and it worries me a little. I dislike not being able to help people who have a valid complaint. This speaks of the person Fuzzy was, he was a people person who was loved and treasured by so many and our entire community. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and treasured him.

The family will accept friends, Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at 6:00 PM for visitation at Belfry's Auditorium. Visitation will follow on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM with funeral services beginning at 1:00 PM. Entombment will then follow at Annie E. Young Cemetery of Pikeville, KY.

Arrangements are entrusted to and under the direction of Thacker Memorial Funeral Home.
