Obituary:
Samuel Prioleau, 81, of Eutawville, departed this life on Friday, December 23, 2016 at his residence. The final resting place will be in the church cemetery.

Samuel Prioleau, Sr. affectionately known as “Sambo”, surrounded by his loving family, entered into eternal rest at his residence in Eutawville, South Carolina on Friday morning, December 23, 2016. He was born on February 22, 1935 in Walnut Grove, South Carolina to the late Isaac and Rose Prioleau.

At an early age, Samuel was educated in the public schools of Orangeburg County but was unable to finish. He began working on the farm to help support the family. Later, he moved to Boston, Massachusetts where he was employed at the Department of Veterans Affairs. He worked diligently for thirty-five years, retiring in 1995. He then became employed at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center as a Distribution-Messenger SVC where he worked at for 3 years.

He always had a church home. He was a member of AME Zion of Boston, Massachusetts where he served as an usher. Years later, Sam and his family relocated to Eutawville, South Carolina in 2006 where he joined Silas United Methodist Church. He served faithfully on the Senior Choir, Male Chorus, and the United Methodist Men Organization.

Sam was a man of many talents. He was a hard worker who dedicated most of his time helping family and others. He enjoyed gardening, making delicious homemade soup, and a lover of cars. Although he endured health challenges, he was always a source of strength to our family.

On July 23, 1960, he was joined in Holy Matrimony to the love of his life, Otta Lee Nesmith. To this union, a set of twins were born.

Sam was preceded in death by his parents; six siblings, Willie Prioleau, Joe Prioleau, Rueben Prioleau, Daniel Prioleau, Elease Prioleau Middleton, and James B. Prioleau.

He leaves behind to cherish his memories: his loving and devoted wife of 55 years, Otta Lee N. Prioleau of the home; two children, Cynthia (Melvin) Robinson of Holly Hill, SC and Sam Prioleau, Jr. of the home; two grandchildren whom he adored, Le’Osha Prioleau and Maliana Robinson both of Holly Hill, SC; three siblings, Abraham (Evern) Prioleau, Annie Lee Prioleau, and Rosa Lee James all of Eutawville, SC; four sisters-in-law, Henrietta Prioleau of Cross, SC, Dorothy Prioleau and Orie Ann Hammonds both of Boston, Massachusetts, and Doretha Nesmith of Nesmith, SC; three brothers-in-law, Reggie Nesmith of Brooklyn, NY, Mingo Nesmith, and Webster (Mable) Nesmith of Boston, Massachusetts, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends
