William L. "Bill" Throne Jr 1st Sgt. United States Marine Corps, 85, of Beaufort, died Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at his residence.
Mr. Throne was born March 30, 1931 in York, PA. He was a son of the late William L Throne Sr. and the late Rosella Ness Throne. He graduated in 1949 from Will Penn Sr. High School, York, PA. Mr. Throne served 24 years active duty and 2 year reserves with the United States Marine Corps. While in the Marine Corps, he served 1 tour of duty in Korea and 2 tours of duty in Viet Nam. In addition to his parents, Mr. Throne is predeceased by his wife, Betty L. Throne, siblings Thelma Faircloth Henise and Pearl Lau.
The family of Mr. Throne will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m., Thursday, December 22nd at Copeland Funeral Service-One Copeland Drive, Beaufort.
A graveside service for Mr. Throne will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 23rd at Beaufort National Cemetery, with United State Marine Corps honors.
