Danville – Raymond Carter, 94, formerly of Danville, IL passed away at Baptist Health Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky.

Raymond was born in Toulon, IL on May 20, 1922, the son of Raymond and Mary (Warren) Carter. On June 2, 1948 he married the love of his life, Jeanette Meyer, in Franklin Grove, IL.

Raymond proudly served in the United States Army. He was an American Baptist Pastor, was active with Habitat for Humanity in Danville. He worked in the Development Department at Judson College for many years. He also enjoyed working with his hands building the structure for a gingerbread house at the age of 91.

Raymond is survived by three sons, one daughter, fifteen grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Jeanette and sons James and John.

Visitation will be held from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Tuesday December 27, 2016 at Ridgeview Baptist Church 3838 N Vermilion St, Danville IL 61832. A Celebration of Life will follow at 10:30 AM. Burial will be at Danville National Cemetery.
Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 North Vermilion Street, Danville, IL 61834 will be handling arrangements.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be made in Raymond’s honor to Habitat for Humanity in Danville IL, Ridgeview Baptist Church in Danville IL, West Broadway Church in Louisville KY.
