Todd Ivan Thornton was born August 31, 1961 to Ivan "Ike" and Lorraine Ranstrom Thornton. He was born with medical complications of hydrocephalus and deemed a miracle baby at the time of his birth. He spent many hours at the Primary Children's Hospital in Salt Lake City. He succumbed to a stroke and heart attack on December 21, 2016.
He graduated from Highland High School in 1979. Although he never married, he always loved children and animals. He always enjoyed watching all sports involving Highland High and the Denver Colorado teams and could often be seen at Holt Arena watching Highland football. His favorite apparel always had a Denver Bronco theme because his brother, Craig, lived in Colorado and it gave them a special bond. Everyone that knew him would say that he was a Pepsi-holic because filling his mug with Pepsi was an everyday occurrence. Although he struggled with addictions, he fought to the end trying to overcome them.
Todd is survived by: his siblings, Vickie (Marvin) Rice of Pocatello, Susan (Mike) Greaves of South Jordan, Utah, Craig (Lisa) Thornton of Thornton, Colorado and Debbie (Kevin) Bloxham also of Pocatello; several nieces and nephews as well as cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, John & Elizabeth Thornton and Leonard and Anna Ranstrom; numerous aunts and uncles; as well as a niece, Shannon Greaves Jensen of South Jordan, Utah.
As per his wishes, he was cremated. A memorial service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday April 1, 2017 at the LDS Relief Society Room at Jefferson and Walnut Roads. There will be a grave side service following, where Todd will be laid to rest next to his mother in the Restlawn Memorial Gardens. Special thanks to Wilks Funeral Home for their compassion and services as well as Portneuf Medical Center nursing staff and physicians for their kind care during a difficult time. Condolences may be sent to the family online at wilksfuneralhome.com.
