Harvey served as a Staff Sergeant, Company K, 172nd Infantry, 43rd Infantry Division, U.S. Army during World War II.

He resided in Chittenden County, Vermont prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Vermont National Guard on February 24, 1941, prior to the war, in Burlington, Vermont. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being as a appraiser and also as Single, without dependents.

Harvey "Died Of Wounds" received in action during the war and was awarded the Purple Heart.
