DAWSON SPRINGS, Ky. -- Clara Mae Allen Burris, 92, of Dawson Springs died Thursday, Aug. 24, 2000, at NHC Healthcare of Dawson Springs.

She was born in Christian County on Nov. 19, 1907, to the late Willie Riley Allen and Maudie Mae Parker Allen.

She was a housewife, a member of Gospel Assembly Church in Dawson Springs, and a Kentucky Colonel. She was also a foster grandparent at Outwood, was awarded for 20 years volunteer foster grandparent service, and had worked for Ottenheimer Sewing Factory in Dawson Springs.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Earl Jones Christopher and Elvis Burris, and one sister, Cornelia Hopper.

She is survived by three daughters, Mary Elizabeth Brawner and Juanita Hamby, both of Hopkinsville, Ky., and Donna Fittje of Russellville, Ky.; three brothers, Nelson Allen of Hopkinsville, William "Son" Allen of Waterloo, Ill., and Donald Allen of Dawson Springs; one sister, Novella Watson of Dawson Springs; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be 1 p.m. today at Beshear Funeral Home in Dawson Springs with the Rev. Clyde Sharber officiating. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery in Dawson Springs.
