James Dennis “J.D.” Stoneman, 64, passed away Friday, December 9, 2016 at his home. Per his wishes, he was cremated and there will be no services.

J.D. lived in Napoleon, Missouri, with his partner and friend, Cathy Totty. He was raised in Independence, Missouri, and was a 1970 graduate of Truman High School. After high school, J.D. played ice hockey on several teams throughout the U.S. and Canada. He had a varied career, working in manufacturing, owning an auto parts delivery service, and driving trucks. J.D. always had time to help a friend. He always loved cars, both hot rods and Model Ts, and collecting antiques.

J.D. is survived by his partner, Cathy Totty; Cathy’s daughter, Sara Totty; two brothers: Chuck Stoneman and his wife, Connie, of Oak Grove, MO, and Alan Stoneman and partner, Kari Morelli of Independence; two sisters: Patricia K. (Stoneman) Hawley of Payson, AZ, and Karen Yelton of Bellevue, WA; two aunts: Virginia Hoppenstedt and Dorothy Koob; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will all deeply miss J.D.
