OPELOUSAS- Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 24, 2016 at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Opelousas, LA for Ms. Doris Marie Newman, 57, who passed away Monday, December 12, 2016 at her residence in Grand Coteau, LA.
Rev. Brian Keith Alfred will be officiating the funeral service.
Ms. Newman is survived by two sons, Cashovas De'Von Newman and Travis O'Neil Newman, both of Grand Coteau, LA; a longtime companion for over 20 years, Patrick Bruno of Dallas, TX; one sister, Mary Ann Nevills of Vidrine, LA; two brothers, Norman Newman (Betty) and Rogers Newman (Rose Ann) both of Opelousas, LA; a grandchild that she raised, Kristen Butler; two grandchildren, L'Trevia Chevis and Jaivien Newman; four Godchildren, Gerriona Bruno, Kyran Newman, Diamond Robertson and Destiny Nevilles; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Nicholas Human and Martha Sonnier; one brother, Dalton Newman; mother-in-law, Pearl Bruno; two brothers-in-law, Tony Bruno and Dexter Gotch; sister-in-law, Alice Newman; one niece, Iris Newman; and three nephews, Michael Newman, Quint Carrier and Eric Harrison.
Visitation will be held Saturday, December 24, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church.
