Joanne Thomas Lee, native of Screven, Ga., and most recently residing in Plano, Tx., died December 18th after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer. Joanne graduated from Screven High School in 1953, where she loved playing basketball. In 1953, she married Robert Lee, also a Wayne County native, and they raised their four children while moving around in the southeast, finally settling in Texas in 1975. Joanne enjoyed life and was happiest when surrounded by her family. She and Robert enjoyed outdoor activities including water skiing and golf. She is predeceased by her daughter, Donna Lee and her husband, Robert Lee; her sisters Carolyn, Lou Jean, and Annette; brothers Rance and Donny; and her parents, Jake and Hettie Mae Thomas.
Survivors include her son Jeffrey Lee of Houston, TX and his two children, Jessica and Daniel; Robert Lee and his wife, Cathy, from Bonham, TX and their children, Rachel and David Spinks (great grandchild Colton) and Donna; Sandra Lee from The Colony, TX and her son, Alan Viosca. She is also survived by her sister-in-laws Cathy Thomas from Hinesville, Ga, and Jean Thomas of Jacksonville, FL. Also surviving are Belle and Hal Halvorson of Portland, OR and Sammy Lee of Blackshear, Ga. She has many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
Funeral services will be 10 A.M. Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at the Rinehart and Sons Chapel with Durwood Miller officiating. Interment will be in the Screven City Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Jerald Lee,Billy Lee, Alan Viosca, Daniel Lee, Bobby Ryon and Bill Biancaniello.
Visitation will be 9 to 10 A.M. prior to services at the funeral home.
