Richard N. Koehler, age 80 of Centerville, departed on his last trip Sunday, December 18 at Kettering Medical Center. Born October 26, 1936 in Dayton to the late Dr. Richard S. and Evelyn Koehler.

Dick attended high school in Bardstown, KY at St. Josephs Preparatory and later went on to graduate from the University of Dayton. He next served in the Army doing intelligence work. After the Army, Dick went on to a career as a travel agent and/or owner for 38 years. This time span included work with Koehler & Baum, AAA, and Richard Koehler Travel. He loved to travel and explore new locations. He saw the world and had a memory for geography and history that was unparalleled. His family also benefited from his love of travel as he took them on many memorable vacations only few can do.

He is survived by the love of his life, wife Marilyn of 56 years, children Pamela, Richard Jr. (Rick) and Bruce, sister Kathryn, and best friends Jackson and Tucker. Dick loved gardening and country living. He spent much time at his beloved property in Hillsboro, OH with his dogs.

He and the family were eternally grateful to Marilyn who donated a kidney that provided fifteen years of additional beautiful and fulfilling life. He made the best of it. Marilyn and Dick took many great trips during this time. Dick will be dearly missed by his family and friends. We all know there was only one like him! God bless. He had a wonderful life, no complaints, and would love to do it again. He looks forward to seeing you all in the next world.

A private ceremony will be held at Hardins Creek Cemetery in Leesburg, OH. As for donations, treat yourself and someone dear to dinner.
