Rev. Thomas Hazel "Tom" Ashley Sr., 88, husband of Dot Weaver Ashley for 70 years, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, December 18, 2016.

Rev. Ashley was born in Rock Hill to the late Thomas Clay Ashley and Dessie Mae Benton Ashley. He was an alumnus of Lee College and a WWII veteran of the U.S. Navy. With his wife Dot by his side, he pastored many churches throughout the southeast. He also served as the State Overseer in Albuquerque, NM and the director of the Retired Ministries Fellowship for the SC Church of God. He spent his years after retirement volunteering as a chaplain for Hillcrest Hospital.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are two sons, Tom Ashley Jr. and wife Loren, and Gene Ashley and wife Bonnie; a daughter, Becky Bazzie and husband Richard; and six grandchildren, Thomas "Buddy" Ashley III, Stephanie Revilla, Tim Ashley, Kristen Bryan, Mandi Ardis and Robert Ashley; eleven great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by three brothers, Clyde, Bill, and Jim Ashley; and a great-granddaughter, Courtney Ashley.

Funeral services will be 2:30 pm Thursday at Donaldson Church of God. Burial, with military honors, will be 2 pm Friday in the Beaufort National Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service from 1 - 2:30 pm.
