Leah Estelle Akey, age 18, of Lee Township, Marshall, died at her home on Friday, December 15, 2006.

Leah was born on December 7, 1988 in Dearborn to Gregory L. and Louise F. (Zimmer) Akey.

She moved to Lee Township a year ago, and was a member of the Senior Class at Olivet High School. She was recently inducted into Future Farmers of America there.

Leah loved animals, especially her cats. She was learning to ride the family horses, of whom she kept careful track. She enjoyed going to school in Olivet. Leah made friends easily, and had a number of new ones in Olivet! She loved time with her family.

Surviving are her mother and step-father, Louise and Richard Treat of Lee Township, Marshall; her father and step-mother, Greg and Karrie Akey of Commerce Township; her maternal grandfather, Morand Zimmer of Plymouth; her paternal grandparents, Jack and Rosemary Akey of Farmington Hills; her half-brother Jackson Akey nd half-sister, Ashlynn Akey; her step-sisters Jill Treat Hawkins of Marshall, and Cassandra Lucas of Florida; maternal aunts and uncles, John Zimmer, Rev. Eric Zimmer S.J., Madeleine Vaughan, and Tom Zimmer; paternal aunts and uncles, Jack Akey, Patty Remindino, Mike Akey and Steve Akey; and cousins. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Estelle Zimmer.
