Melissa was born on May 20, 1970 to Ward T. and Sally M. (Williams) Ladd. She was a native of Kosciusko County, having graduated from Tippecanoe Valley High School in 1988. For the past twenty years, she had been living in Albany with her family.
Melissa enjoyed reading and was an advocate of the local library system, borrowing large stacks of books at a time; she chiefly enjoyed reading mysteries. She loved music, especially that of the 1970s and 80s – her favorite band was Styx; she was privileged to meet the lead singer, Tommy Shaw and was able to go backstage. She was an avid collector of CDs and enjoyed going to concerts. She had a special connection to her cats but was a loving mother and wife, above all.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of twenty years, Mark Roberts of Albany, Indiana; son, Rhett Tiger Allan Roberts, at home; mother, Sally Ladd of Atwood, Indiana; brother, Blake Ladd of Denver, Colorado; and two sisters, Debbi (husband, Bart) Fore of Mishawaka, Indiana and Jody Torpy of Atwood.
She was preceded in death by her father, Ward Ladd on May 14, 1994 and by three cats whom she loved like children: Junior, Layla and Tully.
