Funeral services will be conducted 11 o’clock Friday morning, December 23, 2016, from the graveside at Grace Advent Christian Churchyard, 398 Mount Carmel Road, Walterboro.
Born January 31, 1934, in Walterboro, she was a daughter of the late John Gary Herndon and the late Alvie Warren Herndon. She worked as an office manager for twenty-five years for various LP Gas Companies in the area; and had worked faithfully alongside her late husband in their landscaping company. She was a member of Grace Advent Christian Church in Walterboro, and will always be remembered for her love of family and her animals. She was truly a devoted wife and loving mother.
Surviving are: four children, Sue Ellen Hiers of Walterboro, George Allen Jackson and his wife Janna of Bluffton, Regina Thomas and her husband Dan of Summerville, and Paula Jackson Walker and her husband Jeff of Walterboro; and two sisters, Gladys Herndon Gaskins of Walterboro and Helen Herndon Daring of Ridgeland. There are six grandchildren, as well as eight great grandchildren and one great great grandchild that also survive along with a host of loving animals. She was preceded in death by two siblings, John David Herndon and Ruthie Herndon Malphrus.
In lieu of flowers, the family has respectfully requested that memorial contributions be directed in her memory to: Friends of Colleton County Animal Shelter, 33 Poor Farm Road, Walterboro, South Carolina 29488.
