Kenneth Lee Owen, 83, formerly of Pinetop Road, died Monday, December 19, 2016, at Hinkle Hospice House.



The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday, December 22, at Meadowview Presbyterian Church, where he was a member, with Rev. Francis Smith officiating. Burial with military honors by Davidson County Honor Guard will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the church from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. prior to the service and other times at the home of his daughter on Tyro Road.



Mr. Owen was born August 23, 1933, in Davidson County, to Odell Henderson Owen and Alma Cross Owen. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp and later retired from PPG where he served many years in waste management. He was a charter member at his church and also and Elder and Elder Emeritus. He was a member of Lexington VFW Post 3074, Salisbury Tractor and Engine Club and the Eagle Coin Club. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Clorie Bivens Owen who died on February 4, 2008; and brothers, Foy Owen and Max Owen.



Surviving are son, Dean Owen and special friend Gail Hoyle of Denton; daughters, Elizabeth Anne Owen Myers and fiancé Brad Wilkins of Florida, and Becky Newsome and husband Ty of Lexington; five grandchildren, Abbey Myers Ellison, Tripp Myers, Chloe Newsome, Ty Newsome II, and Carley Owen; great-grandson, Jake Ellison; brothers, Tommy Owen, Glenn Owen, Foster Owen, and Doug Owen, all of Lexington; sisters, Hazel Cockerham of High Point, Fay Michael, Kay Atwell and Linda Garwood, all of Lexington; and his special canine companion Gunner.
