Rex Boyd, 85, passed away on Friday, Oct. 4, 2013. Service: 10 a.m. Monday, Grapevine Church of Christ, 525 N. Park Blvd., Grapevine. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Grapevine Church of Christ. Memorials: Should friends desire, memorials may be given to the Grapevine Church of Christ. Rex was born on Dec. 18, 1927, to Sam and Opal Boyd in Pritchett. He retired from the United States Army as a major and retired from the Corps of Engineers having served as the manager of Lake Grapevine, Lake Lewisville and Lake Ray Roberts. Rex was instrumental in building Lake Ray Roberts and Lake Sam Rayburn. He was also very active on the Vice Presidential Task Force on Redefining Government and traveled for many years on Monday to Washington, D.C., and back on Friday. Rex was an active member and elder of the Grapevine Church of Christ. He lived and traveled all over the world, including Saudia Arabia and Germany. Rex was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Lavona Boyd. Survivors: Wife, Betty Boyd; children, Rick Boyd and wife, Sally, Larry Boyd and wife, Cathy, John Stacey Boyd, Beth Boyd-Kolb and husband, Doyce Kolb, Kerry Rodgers and wife, Ellina; grandchildren, Diane Bobbitt, Kristin Boyd, Ashley Teague, Kelly Boyd, Emily Boyd, Austin Boyd, Brooke Boyd, Sierra Boyd, Catherine Rodgers and Dimitri Rodgers.
