Memphis, TN - Dorothy Sharp Emmons, 90, longtime resident of Germantown, TN and former resident of the Etheridge House Assisted Living in Union City, died peacefully at Methodist Hospital-Germantown on December 18, 2016 with her family at her side. Services will be on December 22, 2016, at Memorial Park located at 5668 Poplar Avenue in Memphis. Visitation will be at 1 p.m. in the chapel followed by eulogy at 2 p.m. and interment in the mausoleum at Memorial Park. Born July 18, 1926 in Corinth, MS, she was the daughter of Samuel Irva Sharp and Beatrice Carroll Sharp, both of whom preceded her in death. A retired homemaker, she is the widow of James H. Emmons, her husband of 57 years who died on February 29, 2000. She was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Kathy Lynn Emmons; three brothers, Samuel Irva Sharp, Jr., Loy Moffett Sharp, and Carroll Hyneman Sharp; a sister, Louise Sharp Counce ; and a granddaughter, Jessica Leanne Emmons. Survivors include her son James M. Emmons (Jill) of Union City, and a daughter, Deborah Anne Emmons of Germantown. In addition, she is survived by two sisters Faye Lawrence and Virginia Ann Moss of Corinth, MS. and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Surviving grandchildren include Jason Sharp Emmons (Elizabeth) of Nashville; Amanda Emmons Persons (Ben) of Marietta, GA; Brian Emmons Woodruff (Amanda) of Tigard, ORE; and Angela Woodruff Martinez (Wilfredo) of Palm Bay, FL. and ten great grandchildren.
