Donna Dawn Woods, age 84, of Sturgis, passed away early Sunday morning, Dec. 18, 2016, at Matthew 7:7 Adult Foster Care Home in White Pigeon. She was born Nov. 19, 1932, in Sturgis, a daughter of the late Oral and Mabel (Olmstead) Britton. Donna was a lifelong Sturgis resident and a graduate of Sturgis High School with the class of 1950.On Feb. 24, 1951, she married Robert Lee Woods at First United Methodist Church in Sturgis. He died Feb. 6, 2002. Donna retired in 1984 from Kirsch Company in Sturgis, following several years of dedicated employment. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Sturgis, where she had taught Sunday school. Donna had several hobbies and enjoyment, including playing bingo, collecting coins and spoons and genealogy work. She took great pride in making her home a happy and comfortable place for her children and husband. She was also a talented poet and loved traveling and time spent with her family. Donna is survived by a daughter, Carla Woods of Sturgis; two sons, Robert A. (Patty) Woods of Gilbert, Ariz., and Clint (Fumiko) Woods of Sequim, Wash.,; six grandchildren, Brandon Woods, Garrett Woods, Miranda (Andy) Pagels, Vanessa VanWagner, Leah (her fiancée Elijah Allman) Woods and Danny Gonzalez; three great-grandchildren, Gracie Kay Pagels, Drayk Joseph Lampe and Maci Analee Lampe; a brother, Duane (Vickie) Britton of Kalkaska; a brother-in-law, Earl (Elaine) Woods of Sturgis; special friend RuthAnn Sprowl of Sturgis; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Richard Dean Woods; and a daughter, Brenda Sue Woods. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Hackman Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 114 S. Nottawa St., Sturgis.Funeral services celebrating the life of Donna Dawn Woods will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. The Rev. Jeanne Koughn of First United Methodist Church of Sturgis will officiate. A graveside committal will follow the service at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Sturgis.
