Sarah was born on June 14, 1925 in San Antonio, TX the daughter of Hilario and Josephine Vergara Mendoza. Sarah is survived by three sons, Sam Albert of Abingdon, Oria E. Wright, III of Ft. Myers, FL, and William H. Wright of Galesburg; two daughters, Patricia (Ben) Forsyth Voss of Victoria and Barbara ( Tom) Wright Ennis of Galesburg; one sister, Mary Mendoza Trahan of Lafayette, LA; eight grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Zimmerman; one son, Benjamin Wright on August 31, 2013; three brothers, Alex, Joseph, and Hilario; and one sister, Dorothy Rico.
Sarah worked for several years at the Galesburg Research Hospital. However, her main role was mother and homemaker. She loved raising her children, and supporting her grandchildren. They were her life. Sarah also had a deep love for dancing and reading. She also enjoyed being outdoors, gardening and fishing.
Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. Monday, December 26, 2016 at Watson-Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. Deacon Michael Crummer will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Galesburg. A celebration of life will follow interment at the Thomas Legacy Center at Watson-Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg. Memorials may be made to the family in c/o Trish Voss.
