Curtis Roosevelt Gray, age 99, of Asheboro passed away on Sunday, December 18, 2016 at Clapp's Convalescent Nursing Home in Asheboro.

Mr. Gray was born in Stokes County on December 13, 1917 to E.C. and Nina Young Gray. He was formerly employed with Mr. Jeans and was retired from Shapiro and Shapiro. Curtis attended High Pine Wesleyan Church. In addition to his parents, Curtis was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Parks Gray, 3 brothers, 2 sisters, and a son-in-law, Paul Strider. Curtis loved to fish and take one day trips to the mountains. He enjoyed mowing his yard.

He is survived by his sons, Jerry Gray and wife Betty of Asheboro, Terry Gray and wife Dianne of Asheboro; daughter, Ann Strider of Asheboro; grandchildren, Susan Craig, Emily Lyons, Amy Gray, Debbie Strider, Scott Gray, Robert Gray; and 7 great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 from 12:30-1:45 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro. Funeral services will follow on Wednesday at 2:00 PM at the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Brian Faircloth officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park.

The family would like to express a special thanks to the staff of Clapp's Convalescent Nursing Home and his caregiver Jane Pressley for their love and compassionate care.
