Charley J. Adkins, 83, of Wayne, WV, went to be with the Lord on Monday, December 19, 2016 at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington, WV. He was born July 26, 1933 in Wayne County, a son of the late John and Gladys Osburn Adkins. Charley was a retired truck driver for Columbia Gas with 46 years of service. He worked hard to provide for his family, but also enjoyed playing bluegrass music, doing body work on cars, trading knives and whittling with his buddies at Beech Fork Marina. He loved spending time talking with family and friends. He was also a member of the Church of God on Newcomb Creek. An infant son, Jackie Leonard Adkins, a grandson, Gary Lee Adkins, a sister, Sylvia Ross, and a brother, Billy Adkins, also preceded him in death. Survivors include his loving wife of 62 years Delsie Napier Adkins; a daughter, Vickey Trautwein Boyd of Wayne, WV; three sons, Johnny Adkins (Kathy) of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Tony Adkins (Tammy) of Wayne, WV, and Ted Adkins of Lavalette, WV; two sisters, Joan Stultz and Pat Stultz (Joe), all of Lavalette, WV; a brother, Freddie Adkins of East Lynn, WV; six grandchildren, Carey Lynn Dillon (James) of Wayne, WV, Sarah Adkins of Tennessee, Kimmy Mathews (T.J.) of Barboursville, WV, Lauren Daniels of Wayne, WV, Gunner Daniels of Wayne, WV, and John Curtis Boyd of Wayne, WV; and four great-grandchildren, Johnathan Adkins, JoJo Mathews, Aubrey Dillon and Trent Dillon. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 23, 2016 at Morris Funeral Home Chapel, Wayne, WV, with Bishop Toney Cox officiating. Burial will follow at the Mills Cemetery, Wayne. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Morris Funeral Home.
