AVANS - Toni Jean Avans, 59, born in Chicago, Illinois and a 37 year resident of Whittier, went to meet her Lord and Savior on August 29 due to cancer.
She was an inspirational, strong, positive woman who loved the Lord, people, children, and her family. She was an unforgettable preschool teacher for over 20 years at the Grow and Learn Center in La Mirada as well as an active member of Mount Olive Lutheran Church for over 30 years where she graced the congregation with her beautiful voice and spirit.
She is survived by her husband Andrew, mother Mildred Capra, a sister, a daughter, a son and a one year old granddaughter.
A memorial service will be held at Mount Olive Lutheran Church in La Mirada, CA on Wednesday, September 5 at 1:00pm with Graveside service following at Memory Garden Memorial Park in Brea, CA at 3:00 pm.
