Nevin R. Laidacker
Son in Orangeville survives WW II Navy veteran
Nevin R. Laidacker, age 86, formerly of Laidacker Road, Moreland Township, died on Saturday, Dec. 2, 2006, at Kramm Nursing Home in Watsontown. His wife of 56 years, the former Thelma E. Satteson, died on Feb. 20, 2001.
Nevin was born on March 12, 1920, in Delaware Township, the son of the late Daniel W. and Edna M. (Raup) Laidacker. Nevin was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a farmer and also retired from the former Sprout-Waldron Co. after 28 years of service as a machinist. He was also a member of the Quarter Century Club.
Nevin was a member of the Moreland Baptist Church and was an avid hunter, fisherman and gardener.
Nevin is survived by one son, Keith L. (Peggy) Laidacker, of Orangeville; three daughters: Donna R. (Dale) Stackhouse of Unityville; Molly K. (Scott) Delany of Muncy; and Crystal L. (Rodney) Hearn of Muncy; five brothers: Derl Laidacker of Milton; Max Laidacker of Muncy; Dale Laidacker of Picture Rocks; Dorrance Laidacker of Geneva, Ala.; Douglas Laidacker of Montoursville; one sister, Yetta Gold, of Watsontown; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Richard and James; one daughter, Cynthia; and a sister.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at the Moreland Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dr. Paul Fitzgerald, his pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the Moreland Baptist Church Cemetery with full military honors accorded by combined military organizations. Friends will be received at the McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 557 E. Water S., Hughesville, on Tuesday from 7-9 p.m.
