Albert Lewis "Leiws" Wimberley was born on December 31, 1921, in Christoval, Tom Green County, Texas. He was the seventh child born to George Pleasanton Wimberley and his wife Effie Lorena Spurlin Wimberley. He was the grandson of Isaac Jackson Wimberley and Texana Bell Mayes Wimberley. He was the great-grandson of Pleasant Wimberley and Amanda Julian Jackson Wimberley.

Soon after Albert's birth, his parents moved the family to Uvalde in Uvalde County where they remained the rest of their lives and where Albert was reared.

When he was 21, Lewis married 19-year-old Ona Odel Stillwell who was from the Stillwell family of Edwards County. Lewis and Ona had four sons and one daughter.

Lewis was a veteran of World War II. He fought as a corporal in the U. S. Army Air Corps.

Lewis died at the age of 68 on April 10, 1990, in Camp Wood, Real County, Texas. He was buried in Barksdale Cemetery, Barksdale, Edwards County, Texas, where his wife's ancestors were buried.

Not far away from Lewis's grave is buried his young granddaughter Laura Lea Wimberley (1975-1980), the daughter of his son Larry.
