Mrs. Adolph Bock, the mother is our hardware merchant John Bock, passed from this life following a brief illness. She had been in her usual health until Saturday afternoon at about 3 o'clock. The doctor was called but nothing could be done and she went to her reward after a long life of 86 years, eighth months and 25 days old.

Miss Alvina Guhn was born in Germany on April 10th, 1849. She came to America in 1869 and three years later was united in marriage to Mr. Adolph Bock at Davenport, Iowa. Mr. Bock was working in a hardware store at the time of their marriage. They made their home in Davenport until 1881 when they moved to O'Brien county and settled on a farm near Sanborn, later moving to a farm near Paullina. In 1898 Mr. Bock quit they farm and moved to Paullina and became interested in the hardware business, the family has been in this business ever since.

Mr. Bock passed from this life twelve years ago. Ever since the death of her husband Mrs. Bock has stayed very close to her own rooms. For many years she maintained her membership in the Ladles Aid Society of the Grace Methodist church. Even though she was not able to attend she paid her dues regularly.

Several of her children beside her husband preceded her in death. Mrs. Ella Jennings passed away about fourteen years ago and Henry Bock was laid to rest about ten years ago.

Her children who survive her are two daughters and one son as follows: Mrs. Alma Gaudian of Paullina, and Mrs. Lulu Curran of Hawarden and John Bock of Paullina, besides fifteen grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Bock with the Rev. Albert A. Howe, pastor of the Grace Methodist church, officiating. Interment was made in the Prairie View cemetery.
