Benjamin Franklin "Frank" Herring was the second of six children born to John Wesley and Ida Bell (SCRIBNER) Herring. Although some later records indicate he was born in Illinois, it is more likely that he was born in Kansas. Frank's parents, along with his siblings, Joseph Walter* and Edith Pearl Herring lived in Osage, KS when the 1875 Kansas Census was enumerated - a few months prior to his birth.
