Carl Benjamin Webster, Sr., 83, of Montvale, went to be with the Lord on Friday, January 12, 2007. He was a member of the Vinton V.F.W. Post 4522 and a member of the Walnut Grove Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II having fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jeremiah and Effie Webster; infant son, Larry Webster; brothers, Herman, Raymond and Forest Webster; and a sister, Goldie Thomas. Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Irene T. Webster; children, Carol and Reg Luck, Judy and Roy Wooldridge, all of Montvale, Sue and Ronnie Bernard of Callaway, Jean and Larry Guilliams, Benny and Sue Webster, Jerry and Catherine Webster, Barry Webster, all of Montvale; 15 grandchildren, Debbie Hall, Mike Luck, Lisa Haupt, Rhonda Goad, Mark Wooldridge, Sherry Basham, Brian Bernard, Tammy Sloan, Melissa Pendleton, Crystal Goad, Jennifer Wheeler, Justin Webster, Carrie Brackens, Josh Webster and Catie Webster; 29 great-grandchildren; sister, Melva Atkins of Salem; also a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at Oakey's East Chapel, 12 noon Monday, January 15, 2007 with the Rev. Harold Lewis and the Rev. Elmer Sellers officiating. Interment with military honors will be in Bethlehem Church of the Brethren Cemetery in Boones Mill. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Good Samaritan Hospice or the Walnut Grove Baptist Church Building Fund. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday January 14, 2007 at Oakey's East Chapel, Bonsack, 977-3909.
