WESTLAKE — Jeremy Scott Carpenter’s earthly life began Nov. 15, 1982, and his heavenly life began Feb. 13, 2005, when he passed away at his home in Westlake. He was 22 years old.

Jeremy was a 2001 graduate of Westlake High School. He graduated with honors, and he was salutatorian of his class. Jeremy was an avid football, basketball and baseball player and track and field participant. He was a team player and an excellent student, earning many academic honors, sports awards, ribbons and trophys. He always gave of himself to benefit anyone, and he was greatly admired for doing good deeds for others and never expecting anything in return. He attended McNeese State University and had just recently signed up for the Air Force. He was willing to go for whatever it took to give of himself for his beliefs. So caring and compassionate, his spirit just shined. Jeremy was an altar boy for many years at St. John Bosco Catholic Church of Westlake, and he was very active as a member of the youth group of Gateway Church of God in Moss Bluff.

Survivors include his mother; brother; father; stepsister; half brother; paternal grandparents; great-grandmother; one aunt and uncle; and maternal aunts and uncles. Jeremy was preceded in death by paternal great-grandfather Lawrence Primeaux Sr.; first cousins Jan M. Primeaux and Brandon K. Derouen; numerous great-aunts and -uncles; maternal grandparents Mr. and Mrs. John (Andy) and Curtis Andrepont; and maternal great-grandparents Mr. and Mrs. John B. and Lilly Andrepont. Jeremy will be greatly missed by many, many cousins and friends, and the difference he made touched all of our lives. He will be with us always and forever.

His funeral will be at 3 p.m. today, Feb. 16, in Ardoin Funeral Home of Iota. The Rev. David Broussard will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Iota under the direction of Hixson Funeral Home of Westlake. Words of comfort may be shared with the family at www.mem.com.
