Benjamin S. Carpenter Jr, 66, of South Kingstown (Perryville) died Saturday, December 10, 2005, at South County Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Susan (June) Carpenter .
Born in South Kingstown, he was the son of Dorothy (Wedlock) Carpenter of Verona Beach, NY and the late Benjamin S. Carpenter , Sr.
Ben was a life long farmer who owned and operated Carpenter 's Farm Stand in Matunuck until semi-retirement last year. Even in his retirement he planted his famous ' Carpenter 's Corn' for family and friends to enjoy. He loved to hunt and fish on the rare day off, but his passion was a long stress free ride on his Harley Davidson during a perfect summer day. Ben will be sadly missed by family and many friends.
Besides his wife and mother he is survived by his sons, Benjamin S. Carpenter , III, and his wife Linda of Charlestown, Bruce Carpenter of South Kingstown, John P. Carpenter and his companion Wendy of Charlestown, David Carpenter and his companion Janet of Matunuck; a stepson William Mongillo and his companion Jen of Charlestown; a sister Betty Kenyon and her husband Dwight of Verona Beach, NY. He will be sadly missed by his ten grandchildren. He also leaves many nieces and nephews and was the brother of the late Patricia Maloof.
The funeral was held Wednesday in the Avery-Shot to Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St., South Kingstown. Burial will be in the Carpenter Family Cemetery, South Kingstown.
