Charlotte Temple Slack was born at Knoxville, Missouri May 17, 1859, and departed this life April 4, 1927, being at the time of her departure 67 years, 10 months and eighteen days of age. She was united in marriage to Robert Robson at Gallatin, Missouri, December 25, 1879.

To this union eight children were born, all of whom are living at this present time. Mrs. Robson came to Kansas with her husband and family in 1888, and in 1891, settled in Mayetta, Kansas, where she resided at the time of her death, having been a resident of Mayetta a little over 36 years.

She gave her heart to Christ in early womanhood, uniting at that time with the Missionary Baptist church, and later transferring her membership to the United Presbyterian church, living a consistent Christian life until death called her hence. Mrs. Robson was quiet and unassuming in manner, but her sympathy and neighborly kindness won a loving and lasting appreciation in the affections of all her acquaintances, and her memory will ever be cherished as one who was "A friend indeed, in a time of need". She was of frail constitution, yet was capable of great endurance. The final summons came without warning, or long suffering, and was a great shock to the family and community.

She leaves to mourn her departure a devoted husband, three daughters, Mrs. Mary Susan Yeakley of Hoyt, Kansas, Miss Fannie Robson of Mayetta, Kansas, and Mrs. Charlotte Harsh of Cassiday, Kansas. Five sons, Robert Franklin Robson of Galveston, Texas, J. Thomas Robson, William A. Robson, Charles F. Robson and Andrew C. Robson, all of Mayetta, Kansas, fifteen grandchildren, one great-grandchild, five sisters and two brothrs, besides other relatives and a host of friends.

No time for a last farewell, No time for the shock of fear. Scarcely a moment's halt on the shore. With the guide and the boatman near - Dear, how surprised you were to go, With little to suffer, little to know. Only a moment of dark, A dream of the fleeting night, and then the beautiful break of day and the quiet peace of light. And you found yourself where you longed to stand, in the repose of the Fatherland.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Thos. Leighty from the M.E. church at Mayetta, Kansas, Wednesday, April 6, at 2 p.m. Interment was made in the Mayetta cemetery.

The Holton Recorder, April 14, 1927.
