Peacefully, Joanna Francati Butler, Rochester , NY and Bradenton , FL , passed away July 12, 2010 at age 75.
Predeceased by her husband, Robert G. Butler; parents: Michael and Jennie (De Francisco) Francati.; niece and nephew: Cathleen (Francati) Looney and Gerald Francati. Survived by her brothers, Peter (Mary Ellen) Francati, Dr. Gerald M. (Patricia) Francati. Nieces, Ellen and Sandra Francati, Diane (Kevin) Smith, Susan Francati (Christopher Schwenk). Nephews, Michael, Stephen, Julio and Christopher Francati. Great nieces, Colleen, Pamela and Laura Smith and great-nephew, Garrett Looney. Also survived by her beloved cousins and remembered by the many, many friends whom she held dear.
Joanna's strong faith comforted and sustained her throughout her life. Time spent sharing her life with family gave her the most gratification. Whether she was planning a family picnic at her lake house or spending her winters in Florida she always made family the most important part of her day. She was thankful for her many friends who joined her traveling the globe. She took great delight in exploring the wonders of the United States and Europe but perhaps her most memorable trips were skiing the Alps, touring the Canadian Passage, her exotic adventures to Tahiti, Bora Bora , Brazil and the Caribbean . Perhaps her favorite cruise was sailing through the Panama Canal.
Closer to home Joanna enjoyed golf, music and theater. She was quick to volunteer her time in various organizations, including the March of Dimes, United Way and American Cancer Society.
Joanna proudly graduated from Our Lady of Mercy High School, then attended Nazareth College . She was employed by Rochester General Hospital (pathology) and Eastman Kodak (research and development) where she retired.
Special thanks to Dr. Louis Antignano and his staff for their exceptional and compassionate care. Also to the 4th floor staff at St Ann 's Home for their wonderful care.
